Peptide Coupling Reagent CAS: 693-13-0

N,N-Diisopropylcarbodiimide

N,N'-Diisopropylcarbodiimide (DIC, DIPCDI, DIPC) is a high-purity carbodiimide zero-length coupling reagent used in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), amide bond formation, and organic synthesis. Designed for carboxylic acid activation and esterification, DIC forms an organic-soluble urea byproduct (N,N-diisopropylurea) for easy wash-based purification. Available in research, commercial, and bulk quantities with fast dispatch from Hyderabad, India.

Usage

N,N'-Diisopropylcarbodiimide (DIC) is an essential carbodiimide coupling reagent utilized in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) and solution-phase peptide synthesis. Ideal for carboxylic acid activation, amidation, and esterification, DIC operates effectively at temperatures from 0°C to ambient in organic solvents such as DCM, DMF, THF, or Acetonitrile. Unlike DCC, DIC produces an organic-soluble byproduct (N,N'-diisopropylurea), facilitating effortless wash-based purification and high-yield target isolation in complex peptide and pharmaceutical synthesis.

Safety

DANGER: Flammable liquid and vapor (H226). Fatal if inhaled (H330). Causes severe eye damage (H318) and skin irritation (H315). May cause allergic skin reaction or asthma symptoms (H317, H334).

UN Number: UN2929 | Hazard Class: 6.1 (3) Toxic & Flammable | Packing Group: I

Handling: Handle exclusively in a certified chemical fume hood using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, and full skin coverage. Avoid vapor inhalation and contact.

Other Information

Store at 2°C to 8°C under an inert gas atmosphere (Nitrogen or Argon) in a tightly sealed container. Keep in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heat, sparks, open flames, and direct sunlight. DIC reacts slowly with atmospheric moisture; store strictly protected from water and humidity.
